Litter Box Woes? Here's the Scoop

Cat been missing her box? Most times, something behavioral is behind it, but urinating outside the box may be the result of a variety of urological conditions, some of which can potentially be fatal if not treated right away. Contact your vet promptly to rule out underlying conditions, and discuss other possible reasons for improper elimination, including whether the litter box is:

Clean enough. Cats have an acute sense of smell. A stinky box may lead her to do her business in sweeter-smelling locales -- like your basket of fresh laundry!
Secluded enough. Quiet and private is best, but not so out-of-the-way that she can't get there quickly.
Enough. Have one box for four cats? Add a couple more.
